Nutella is SO Out-ie
And Better'n Peanut Butter is in-ie (not in the belly-button sort of way, that would just be gross). This heavenly all-natual peanut butter boasts 85% less fat and 40% less calories than regular peanut butter, but best of all tastes like an even yummier and creamier version of Nutella (it is possible), sans the nutty undertones. I tried the low sodium variety (pictured) when my roommate brought it home from Whole Foods, and I know that Original and Chocolate flavors are also available. The brand's website says that it's available at Trader Joe's. It also says that customer testimonials have referred to it as "a life saver", whatever the hell that means. I just know that it's pretty damn awesome.
Listen Up: Beach House
Baltimore-based band Beach House's dreamy sounds make you feel like you're floating through a dusty costume closet in a magical attic. Trust me, it's a cool feeling.
This year's Devotion is the second album for the band whose music has been hailed by Pitchfork and been compared to that of alt-rockers Mazzy Star and the Velvet Underground's Nico. The band is fronted by the crooning Victoria Legrand (vocals/ organ) and Alex Scally (guitar/ keyboard) and was playing in Baltimore tonight at Sonar (unfortunately couldn't make it...) and afterwards will finish the rest of 2008 opening for The Walkmen.
I can't help but appreciate it when the locals produce awesome tunes. Interested? Listen to "Wedding Bell", the opening single on Devotion, or "Heart of Chambers" to get that hazy, "i'm-happily-floating-away" feeling....if only vicariously.
